Needlepoint is a form of embroidery in which people can create truly unique art using needles and threads or fiber, by following a painted design It is generally done on an even, open-weave fabric, usually a treated canvas. The stitcher can use a variety of thread or fiber types and any number of different stitches to achieve various effects. This will be a demonstration of this type of stitchery.

Bring a Project Day is for all of us who have unfinished craft projects that we have set aside and just don't seem to have time to work on.  Why not bring your project to Dudley Farm and join us for a couple of hours of crafting and conversation?  It is always more fun to work on things together.  Perhaps you have a project you haven't even started yet and just need a little nudge to get you going.  Come join us for inspiration and encouragement.  We'd love to see you there.

The Southern Syrupmakers Assoc will bring a cane syrup tasting day of fun.  Come and vote for your favorite cane syrup.  If you are a syrup maker, feel free to enter your syrup. If you are a syrup taster, see which syrup tastes the best.

Plastic canvas needlepoint is a variation of traditional needlepoint. This is a great piece of material to make doll houses, sewing boxes, and other fun 3-D projects. You can build up and out with your stitches instead of staying on one surface. Plastic canvas is a great way to teach kids how to stitch. The holes are big and the projects can be simple. A great project for them would be ornaments for a tree. This is a child friendly demonstration.

Wherever corn was grown as a crop, children, in both Native American and Colonial American families, used husks to fashion dolls. We love the simple beauty of corn-husk dolls: They're understated, easy to make even for children, and truly ingenious -- requiring not much more than some husks and twine. This is a child friendly workshop.

National Public Lands DaySaturday, September 30, 2017 09:00am - 12:00pm

Join us as we remove exotic coral ardisia and air yam from the park, work in our Visitor Center butterfly garden or historic site. Groups, families and individuals are welcome. Please meet at the Visitors Center; bring clippers or loppers, bug spray, and water. Dress appropriately, wear closed toe shoes, and bring work gloves. A day to give, a lifetime to enjoy.

Quilt Day & Heritage Nursery Plant SaleSaturday, October 07, 2017 09:30am - 02:30pm

The Joy of Quilting - There will be a "Quilt As You Go" demonstration at 10:00 am.  The popular bed turning program will be held twice, at 11:00am and again at 1:00pm, and will feature quilts from Katherine Armstrong.   Also includes the Levy County Quilt Museum, the Quilters of Alachua Co Day Guild, quilt-related vendors and quilts for sale.  We are adding "collectors" to our theme this year.  If you or someone you know has an interesting collection, and would like to display it during the event please let me know!  We will also have some games. 

Heritage Nursery Plant Sale - We will have heritage plants from the original Dudley gardens including varieties of gingers, and also many species of Florida native plants.

See an original Florida working farm from the post Civil War to the 1940s as they grind sugar cane using mule power and boil it into cane syrup. Old-time craft demonstrations such as grinding corn into cornmeal, ironsmithing, woodworking, and washday demonstration. Also children's activities and toys, old-time music, quilt drawing and vendors are featured on this living history day.
